Kinja'd!!!

Welcome back to my ‘Dream Garage’ challenge. Tonight’s edition pays homage to everyone’s favourite German sports car, except I’m changing things up a bit.

Here are the rules:

You have a three vehicle garage....

The first car must be powered by a flat or boxer engine ; but it cannot be a Porsche 911.

The second car must have a rear-engine, rear wheel drive layout ; but it cannot be a Porsche 911.

The third car must be some kind of Porsche 911.

I’m hoping for some interesting combinations, have fun Oppo~

Flat engine: Porsche 917

Rear engine : Tatra 77

For the 911, a Singer of course:

Kinja'd!!!

I’m conflicted about not picking an Alpine though. But seeing as I already have to sportscars, I figured the Tatra would be a better fit.

This wasn’t actually as hard as I initially thought. Just had to check that the F512M is really a boxer.

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

The only thing I would do is to lose the strakes on the F512M, turn the the body into carbon, equip new tires, lower it (and use more modern suspension, preferably from a 458) and up-rate the internals to make maybe 530 hp at a much higher rpm, but otherwise, there you go.

First car: 1965-1969 Porsche 912 (also could be the second car)

Second car: 1976 Porsche 912E (also could be the first car)

Third car: 1989 Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera

Really, I just wanted to use the 912s. They’re both not 911s and they’re some kind of 911.

edit:

Citroën GS. Aircooled flat 4 engine (or a Wankel).

Tatra 603. Rear mounted aircooled V8.

Schwimmwagen. Built/designed by Porsche, based on the Beetle. So an uncle to the 911.

If you want a rear-engined rear wheel drive French rally car, here you go:

Kinja'd!!!

Alpine A110. One of the best rally cars around until purpose-built cars like the Stratos came along.

OK, and now for something more serious than cheating with 912s.

And, I’ll do the added challenge of DD, track, and burn(outs).

DD (#2): BMW i3 REx - rear engine (inline 2), rear wheel drive

Track (#3): Yeah, we’ll use the 1989 911 3.2 Carrera here, sure

Burnouts (#1): Toyobaru (boxer 4) with a big-ass supercharger

Really, the Toyobaru could work for the track, too, but...

I never heard of that DAF before, and its 2-cylinder boxer engine sounds interesting - it reminds me of a motorbike.

They did put one into a bike once as an experiment. But that Daf did a lot to motorise the poorer people of the Netherlands. They continued making several boxer powered Daf’s from 1959 until 1976, when all DAF car building activity was stopped and continued under the Volvo name, dropping the smallest boxer powered 46 model.
